Established in 1992, Kocaeli Üniversitesi (Kocaeli University) is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the suburban setting of the medium city of Kocaeli (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants). This institution also has branch campuses in the following locations: Kosekoy, Golcuk, Karamursel, Degirmendere, Derbent, Derince, Gebze, Hereke, Izmit, Ihsaniye, Kandira, Kullar, Yenikoy.
